Simon Oldfield is pleased to present Neal Tait’s first solo exhibition at the gallery, The Battle for Middle You.

The relationship in Tait’s work between the real and the imagined is elusive; an unresolved entanglement. Figuration and abstraction fuse at the intersection of symbolism and realism; presenting an enchantment of mesmeric paintings.

Tait (born 1965), lives and works in London. Tait has exhibited extensively in the UK and internationally including the Watercolour exhibition at Tate Britain (2011), Modern Love, Simon Oldfield, (2010), Les Toits de Parise, White Cube, solo (2009), Works on paper, ACME, Los Angeles, solo (2008) Neal Tait: The Dressmaker Who Lived on the Outskirts, Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, New York solo (2008).

Opening 18 April 2012, 6.30-8.30pm. Exhibition continues until 26 May 2012.

Sam Knowles is showing work in Tender is the Night, a group exhibition curated by Emily Sills, presenting the works of Sam Knowles, Rachel Hovnanian, Polixeni Papapetrou, Allie Pohl, Christine Rebet, Katy Stone, and Frank Zadlo. In a long line of appropriation, this show takes its cue from F. Scott Fitzgerald, who borrowed the line as the title for his novel from John Keat’s poem “Ode to a Nightingale.”
